Cold Formed Steel Floor Systems

Structural Cold Formed Steel (CFS) floor framing systems engineered for accuracy, load performance, and efficient installation in multi-storey commercial, institutional, and multi-residential construction across Canada.

Designed to integrate seamlessly with CFS wall and roof systems, our floor framing solutions support consistent builds and predictable site timelines.

Overview

What Are Cold Formed Steel Floor Systems?

Cold Formed Steel floor systems are structural framing assemblies that form the floor and ceiling structure of multi-storey buildings. Built using Light Gauge Steel (LGS) joists and track, they provide the load-bearing capacity required for modern mid-rise and commercial construction.

CFS floor systems are manufactured to precise specifications and are designed to coordinate with the wall panels, truss systems, and mechanical and electrical systems in the overall building assembly.

Unlike wood framing, Cold Formed Steel floor joists do not shrink, warp, or creep over time. This helps maintain the dimensional integrity of the structure and reduces common issues such as squeaky floors, sticking doors, and finish cracking.

Why CFS

Why Use CFS Floor Systems?

Cold Formed Steel floor framing provides practical advantages for multi-storey construction projects.

1

Precise, factory-produced joists and components

Every joist is manufactured to exact specifications, ensuring consistent sizing and spacing is maintained across every floor level.
2

No shrinkage, warping, or creep over time

Steel holds its shape permanently, reducing common callbacks such as squeaky floors, sticking doors, and finish cracking.
3

Consistent depth and spacing for easier mechanical and electrical coordination

Uniform joist sizing and pre-punched openings allow mechanical, electrical, and plumbing trades to plan and install with fewer field conflicts.
4

Non-combustible framing system

Cold Formed Steel meets fire resistance requirements for mid-rise construction without additional treatment, supporting code compliance across multiple storeys.
5

Resistant to mold, rot, and pests

Steel is unaffected by moisture, insects, and biological degradation, maintaining the structural integrity of the floor system over the life of the building.
6

Designed to integrate directly with CFS wall and roof systems

CFS floor framing is engineered to coordinate with wall panels and truss systems, supporting a consistent and well-coordinated structural package.

Process

Design and Fabrication

CFS floor systems require close coordination between structural design and the overall building assembly. Our team reviews project drawings to confirm joist sizing, spacing, bearing conditions, and coordination with wall panels and mechanical penetrations before fabrication begins.

Components are manufactured to match the project design, with joists cut to length, labelled, and bundled for efficient delivery and installation sequencing. Pre-punched or pre-cut openings for mechanical and electrical trades can be incorporated during fabrication where required, reducing the need for field modifications.

Our fabrication process is designed to support accurate, repeatable results across every floor level of the building.

Delivery

Delivery and Installation Support

Floor system components are delivered labelled and sequenced to support efficient installation from one level to the next. Clear identification of each component helps the site team organize materials quickly and reduces the potential for installation errors.

Our team is available to support project managers and contractors with questions during the installation phase, and can assist in resolving any coordination issues that arise between the steel framing and other trades.

Project Support

How We Support Your Project

We work with developers, general contractors, structural engineers, and architects at every stage of the project.

Early Stage

We can engage at the design stage to review floor system specifications, confirm structural coordination with wall and roof assemblies, and identify any items that may affect fabrication or installation sequencing.

During Fabrication

Our team provides clear communication on production timelines and delivery schedules. Any drawing revisions that affect the floor system are reviewed and addressed before manufacturing proceeds.

At Delivery

Components arrive labelled, sequenced, and ready for installation. Supporting documentation is provided to help the site team understand the assembly sequence and coordinate with other trades.
